The Carter County Commissioners met on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 in the Carter County Courthouse Boardroom. Present were Steve Rosencranz, Chairman and Rod Tauck, Vice Chair and Mike Watkins member. Commissioner Rosencranz called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM.
Commissioner Tauck made a motion to approve Tricia Lovec leave request. Commissioner Watkins seconded the motion. There was no public comment, all voted in favor and the motion carried.
The commissioners discussed figures for attorney salary and benefits.
The commissioners reviewed and commissioner Rosencranz signed claims and payroll warrants.
Commissioner Watkins made a motion to approve meeting minutes with corrections for June, 8th,9th,15th and 22nd, 2020. Commissioner Tauck seconded the motion. There was no public comment. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
The commissioners discussed adding 2 working days to their meeting schedule. Commissioner Watkins made a motion to meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month Commissioner Tauck seconded the motion all voted in favor and the motion carried .. The Commissioners base pay is at 56% of Clerks salary. With the two extra two days a week they will raise this to 70%.
Ryan Tooke, Dahl Memorial CEO- Wanting to expand the physical therapy department into the area in the upper level designated the Future space. The facility will have a cost savings on the door locks by using key fobs instead of cards. He has also purchased a less expensive call system. He would like the physical therapy area to be sufficiently large enough to house equipment and space to conduct therapy comfortably. After reviewing the plans commissioner Watkins made a motion to expand the Pt area into the future space area. Commissioner Tauck seconded the motion. There was no public comment and all voted in favor. The motion carried. Ryan will contact Scott about the proposed changes.
The meeting adjourned for lunch at 12:00 and reconvened at 1:00
Jennifer Williams Attorney at Law joined the meeting to interview for the position of County Attorney. The commissioners each asked a series of questions and scored her answers. Jennifer Williams interview was complete and she left the meeting.
Judy Wright informed the commission that Senator Daines will be flying in to Ekalaka Monday July 6th and would like to have County, Airport and Town representatives meet him there.
Commissioner Tauck made a motion to sign signature certification form designation depository form for the CDBG grant. Commissioner Watkins seconded the motion. There was no public comment. The motion carried unanimously.
Corbit Harrington Attorney at Law joined the meeting to interview for the position of County Attorney. The commissioners each ask the same series of questions they asked Jennifer Williams. They discussed office space and equipment needs as well has when he could start serving as County Attorney. Corbit left the meeting.
